Pork Chope with Ratatouille

Monday, February 27
Monday again. Today is Indian cooking class day. I usually don't drink until I get back home, but I needed to drink today after crazy busy day at work. I just had one beer and a glass of wine for dinner and left for the class. 

Dinner
Pork Chop with Vegetable: I made ratatouille last night. So I just grilled pork chop and added the ratatouille on the top. Yum.

Flounder, Brussel Sprout, French Fries: It looks like dinner. I wanted to have sandwich but I didn't have enough bread.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Bagel Sandwich with Homemade Pickles: It looks like lunch. lol.  I found one bagel in the freezer I tried to make broccoli cheddar soup first time. I found the recipe and it was good.

I found spring roll wraps at a grocery store near my house. So I decided make Chinese meal and invited some friends. Not super fancy, but I think the food tasted good.

Japanese Dinner

I got a big egg plant on the other day. I used some for Mapo eggplants on Monday, and I used the rest for simmered eggplants. I thought it was pretty good. But I didn't know that J was not a big fan of eggplants until now. He would eat if it's crispy like eggplant Parmesan. Oh well, the rest of the eggplants are all mine. I am fine with that.

I had to go to work today. I wish I had another day off. It was gorgeous out.

Mapo Eggplant and Glass Noodle Salad: I did like the glass noodle salad. It has carrot, cucumber, ham and noodle. I think it's pretty healthy.

My father-in-law visited us and took us to Rochester Inn for Valentine's day. How sweet he is! I am so fortunate to have him as father-in-law.

Grass Fed Beef Hamburger: It's been a while to have hamburger at home. I still grill them at kitchen, but I am sure that we will hamburger more often when the weather gets nicer.

Can't believe that it's still February. It's 54F outside? I turned off heater and open all windows to get fresh spring breeze.

Tomato Sauce Pasta: I don't make pasta at home much, but I love it when it turned into good. Today's one was just ok. Still I enjoyed it.

Shrimp Cocktail, Beans Salad, Asparagus & Bacon: I had steak for main dish, but I didn't take a picture.

Tori Jaga (Chicken and Potatoes) and Steamed Asparagus: Oh my, the steamed asparagus tasted really good with olive and salt. Simple is the best!

I didn't go to Yoga today, so I took time to prepare dinner. ... Breaded Deep Fried Food! I love deep fried food. Who doesn't?

Cheese Chicken Katsu: I added cheese inside of the chicken. Forget about calories. Just enjoy the meal! I am still on diet though .... I had shredded cabbage on the side. Does it work?

Meals for Super Bowl 2017

I took my dogs for a walk to North Park. It was cold but it's always nice to walk around there.

Brunch by Chef J
Omelette, Bacon, Sausage, Bread with Olive Oil, Almond Milk: I got good olive oil. Now I prefer olive oil for bread to butter.

Dinner
Steamed Clams: I bought clams at Costco. It was a really good deal. There were over 30 clams and cost $15. It's easy to cook and tasty.

Premium Steak: Although it was chilly outside, but J made charcoal to cook the steak. It's worth!

Ehou Maki for Setsubun 2017

I had dinner with my friends last night. As I was tired, I came back home early and went to bed. Then I took Yoga class at 7:30 am this morning. I felt good! 

Dinner
Setsubun Meal: We eat Sushi Roll on February 3 (Setsubun Holiday) for good luck. It is one day late but I still try to follow Japanese tradition. This is first time I made Ehou Maki (Sushi Roll for Setsubun) since I left Japan. I think I did a good job. Also we had steamed clams and salad.

Ehou Maki: Cucumber, Shrimp, Egg Omelet, Pickled Daikon Radish, Shitake Mushroom, Avocado, Sesame Seeds


Steamed Clams: Cook Clams with minced garlic and oil for a minute. Add cooking sake and steam until the clams opened. 

El Burro

TGIF! I am so glad that it's Friday. It was such a busy day and I was exhausted. I can sleep as long as I want tonight. Still I am planning to go to Yoga in the morning.

Dinner at El Burro
Shredded Beef Taco and Salsa & Chips: El Burro is one of my favorite Mexican place but I don't go to North Shore much. Today I was visiting my friend staying in North Shore and I suggested this place. Yum. I didn't know that there is another location in Regent Square. Still I don't go there often either, and if I would go to Regent Square, there are many options to eat out. But hopefully I can come back to El Burro again soon.

It was so snowy in the morning. I was going to take my dogs to North Park but I decided to stay home and snuggle with the doggies.

Curry Udon: I added Dashi broth and made the leftover curry into Udon Soup. Perfect meal for a snowy day.
