Thursday Night Date

Thursday, October 12
As I had an errand to do in East Liberty, I decided to try a restaurant, Spork. Is it new? Since I moved to North Hills, I don't go to new places anymore. I enjoyed eating out and also there was a nice surprise. My old co-worker was working at the restaurant! It was so nice seeing him. Hopefully I'll see him again soon.

Dinner at Spork
Crostini: I liked it. I would like to try it at home. Goat Cheese, prosciutto, grilled peach on bread.

Straw & Hay: It tasted good but a bit too oily for me.

Choucroute: This is J's plate.  At least, he enjoyed it.

BRGR Downtown

Tuesday, June 20
I met my old co-worker for dinner. We talked a lot and enjoyed beer in a summer day. I'll see her again next month. Can't wait!

Dinner at BGBR
Build Your Own Burger: Angus + Provolone, Housemade Slaw - I won't order coleslaw again. I like the idea, slaw without mayo. It was vinegar flavor but it was too sweet for me.

Revel and Roost

Tuesday, January 24
I still don't feel great. But I went to see Hedwig and the angry inch. It was so good. I always love the show. We tried make a reservation for a restaurant close to the theater, all popular places were already booked. So we tried Revel and Roost. It was happy hour. Half price for draft beer and $5 for house wine. Food was good too.

Dinner at Revel and Roost
Curried Cauliflower: I liked it! Very thick and the hint of curry flavor works well.

Shrimp + Lobster Gumbo: This is J's. I tried some. It was good but I like the Cauliflower one better.

Winter Harvest Salad

Shrim + Grits: It was a bit salty for me but some of friends also ordered and they liked it a lot. Maybe I would like to try it again.

It was half price wine bottles day. We had beer first and had some wine ... eventually we ordered 3 bottles. I had girls and Pens game on TV. Perfect night ever!

Dinner at Walnut Grill
Classic French Onion Soup - It was good. But it was kinda too strong for me. Maybe I am not a French onion soup person?

Roasted Beet Salad with CraB Cake-  I liked it. I love beets. I just learned that I liked have the crab cake on the different plate.

Meat and Potatoes

Thursday, July 14.
Lose 4.6 lbs to the goal!

Dinner at Meat and Potatoes:
Mussels - I picked the curry flavor. I liked it. You can pick garlic bread or fries for side, def pick bread! After finishing the mussels, I took the broth home of course.

Meat and Potatoes for Two:
I wanted to try this meal since I saw it on the TV show, "Food Paradise", which is my favorite. The rib eye steak was good. It's perfect seasoning and cooking. I liked the idea of the bone marrow gratin, but it was not as good as I expected. I can come back for meals but I don't need to order this meal again.

First Oysters This Season!

Dinner at NOLA on the Square on November 19.

French Onion Soup - It was too salty for me.

Oysters - It was a bit early? But I am happy that oysters season has come.

Hear-Grilled Chicken and Dumpling - I usually don't eat chicken at restaurant. Because most of the time, they are chicken breast. But it was perfectly cooked at NOLA. It's juicy and not dry at all. Dumpling? It was bad. I had one bite and done.

Bourbon Street Short Ribs - The meat was very tender. The gravy tasted a bit light for me.

Chicken Sandwich at Willow.

Dinner at Willow on April 9.

Happy hour and dinner at Willow. I don't order chicken meals (except wings!) at restaurant because they are usually chicken breast. But I found that the chicken sandwich was made with thigh and legs! Yes, I love dark meat. The half of sandwich made me full and the leftover was saved for my lunch next day.

Chicken & Brie - Leg and Thigh, Forest Mushroom, Sourdough, Brie, Spinach and Basil Mayo

Root 174

Dinner at Root 174 on March 21.

I heard good about Root 174 and I could try it at last. I had a few appetizers to share and lamb for entree. It was good. But it's not special. I felt like it is one of good restaurants in Pittsburgh. I am not sure if I will come back. Don't get me wrong. If I live in Regent square, I would be back.

Black Caviar Caeser - The boiled egg was perfect cooked, medium rare.

Braised Octopus - If you like octopus, do NOT order this. It tasted good, but octopus was awful. I understand that it's difficult to get fresh octopus in Pittsburgh but If I were a chef, I wouldn't serve this quality of octopus to customers.

Braised Lamb Neck -  This meal is huge. Lamb is so rich. I couldn't finish at all. So I got a box to go ... you will see what it'll be turned out at home.

Happy Hour at Willow on March 20.

I went to Willow for Happy Hour, 2 dollars Yuengling and Miller Lite, 2 dollars off for wine and cocktails. I got there at 5:30pm but the bar section was almost packed. I had Yuengling and flatbread. The dough was homemade and it was good.
