Dinner at Spoon on Dec. 30. I have been here several times before. I always enjoyed the meal. They changes the menu once or twice in a week. I had 5 course tasting menu today.

First plate : a piece of toast with cream and caviar

Second plate : (from left)Gorgonzola Bleu Cheese Souffle, Beets and horseradish, Salad - I liked this plate a lot. I think this is the most favorite of tonite.
Third plate : Beans and Quil Egg

Fourth plate : Scallop and buckwheat risotto 

Hanger Steak : potato rosti, spinach + forest mushroom saute, caramelized shallots, bone marrow butter, red wine reduction


Tonight Wine : Petite Sirah - I liked it. It was full body and good with meat. 


Tomato Soup

Brunch on Dec. 30. I know it looks good, but it tastes .... I shouldn't have had smelt. It didn't work well.

Teppanyaki Kyoto

Lunch at Teppanyaki Kyoto on Dec. 28. I ordered some appetizers and Okononomiyaki (Japanese Style Cabbage Pancake) Lunch for entree. Appetizers were good. Okonomiyaki... It was ok. The area I grew up is famous for Okonomiyaki. So I can say that I am pretty picky for Okonomiyaki. My mom makes okonomiyaki too good. Hers is the best for me. And Yakisoba (Fried Noodle) was not great. I say I won't order again. But I enjoyed the meal anyway. I will come back.

Hiyayakko : chilled tofu - It has cilantro and spicy pickles on the tofu. Topping is chaged daily, but I liked today's topping. 

Dashimiaki : Egg omlet - It was good, I like mine better.

Bigham Tavern

Chicken wings at Bigham Tavern for dinner on Dec. 26.
I love chicken wings. Bigham Tavern has chicken wings night every Wednesday. I like sweet chilli flavor. If my schedule allows me, I would like to go to Bigham tavern every Wednesday. It's very busy on Wednesday, but it was not that bad today. I guess it's because of snow.

Baked Mash Potatoes : It was so good and rich. It had bacon, cheese, sour cream and more. I liked it. You did good job, Sis-In-Law, S.  

New York Strip and Fillet Mignon with Bacon : I usually prefer NY Strip but I liked Fillet Mignon a lot today. Why didn't I have red wine?

Pretzel Salad : I don't care about sweets, but I like mom-in-law's pretzel salad a lot! 

Breton Cake from Jean-Marc Chatellier's French Bakery : It was really good. It's not sweet but rich. I have had macarons there for my one of best friends BD. Everybody loved the macarons. Also I've had croissant. If you wanna try their cake or bread, get up early, or you won't get any.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale : Once in a year. One case in a year... because it's not cheap. It's full-bodies and spiced. Good seasonal beer. I wish I could have drunk more for dinner, but I had to go home because I have to go to work tomorrow morning. So I came back home and relax with christmas ale.

Seafood Nabe

Nabe for dinner on Dec. 23. It's a very fancy one. We had oyster, shrimp and lobster! OMG, it made really good broth. I am going to make soup with this broth tomorrow. I usually have rice in Nabe after dinner like this, but I forgot to prepare rice. So I added Udon noodle. It was good. I can't wait for tomorrow soup. I must be really good!
Seafood Nabe : Oyster, Shrimp, Lobster, Tofu, Nappa Lettuce, Daiko Radish, Leek, Shungiku(garland chrysanthemum), Shimeji Mushroom, Enoki Mushroom, Seafood Mushroom

Breakfast on Dec. 23. Yay, bacon! I love bacon (who doesnt?), but I don't buy it much. Because we usually eat bacon for breakfast like this. I don't cook in the morning on weekdays. All I can do for breakfast is to put leftover in the microwave.

Bagle and Chicken soup for breakfast on Dec. 22. I like to have soup for breakfast. Especially, snowy cold day. Winter has come to Pittsburgh at last. It's not bad to have snow on Christmas. Stay warm Yinz!

Piper's Pub

Lunch at Piper's Pub on Dec. 21.
I needed to have some drinks after busy morning and my hungover friends needed to recover from crazy night. Then they picked Piper's Pub. They always go to Piper's to get rid of hungover and talk about how crazy they were last night.
Zucchini Strips : Thinly sliced, lightly egg-battered and fried served with horseradish sauce - I like this for appetizer. It does't matter whoever I go with, always someone order this meal.
Chicken and Mushroom Pie : Chunks of chicken breast and fresh vegetable in a creamy gravy topped with a flaky pastry - This dish helped 2 hungover people today.

Today's special : Roast Beef Sandwich - It was good, but nothing special.

Lotus Root & Celery Hamburger

Dinner on Dec. 17. I didn't have enough ground meat, so I added diced celery and lotus root. It was really good! Celery gave additional flavor and lotus root gave diffirent texture. I should have made them more. oh yeah, I didn't have meat. But it is good to make less meat hamburger, save some money and get healthier.

Tarako Rice

Lunch on Dec. 17. I added Mentaiko(codfish roe) sauce to rice. That sauce is for pasta, but I was too lazy to make pasta. It worked very well. Pasta version is here.

Kiku Japanese Restaurant (to go)

Dinner on Dec. 16. I ordered Sushi to go at Kiku Japanese Restaurant. I think Kiku is very authentic. Sushi chefs and kitchen staff are from Japan. Not only sushi but also other food like tempura and karaage(Japanese fried chicken) are good.

China Star

Lunch at China Star on Dec. 13. I know that I just went to China Star a few weeks ago, but I had to go to Ross Park Mall around lunch time. And my skin needed collagen. Then I decided to go to China Star again. I tried not to eat much today. This is what I had today.
Egg Roll : It came with Lunch dish. It was ok, but I won't order again.

Spicy Beef Tendon : my collagen! It's taste like spicy sesami oil and sichuan pepper. 

Kung Pao Chicken : I liked it. It had diced chicken, carrot, cerely, green pepper and peanuts. I thought it tastes a bit Shaoxing wine, but I'm not sure.
My Fortune Cookie Today : "It is very possible that you will achive greatness in your lifetime ..... (in bed)". lol. I like it.
