Tomato Beef Stew

I found tomato pasta sauce in the fridge! I think I made it last week. It tasted fine, so I added beef, onion and garlic. Then all pasta sauce is gone!

Meat & Potatoes

Lunch at Meat & Potatoes on May 26.
It had Brunch menu today. I had Carbonara and my friend ordered Quiche of the day. I didn't expect my meal much and it was what I thought. Pasta Sauce was good but past was overcooked. Can't I have normal pasta in Pittsburgh except at Dish? People next table were having Fried chicken and Waffle. It was huge. I think there were 3 or 4 pieces of BIG chickens. They seemed enjoying. I might wanna try it next time, but I need someone to share it with me. The restaurant was very busy, but it took too long to bring us drink. I think I waited more than 15 minutes. We ordered cocktail, so I understand it takes more than just beer or wine. They have good coctails for brunch and most of customers were drinking mixed drinks. I saw only 2 bartenders. Did they short staff today? or they should prepare busy brunch time.

Thursday Dinner

Dinner on May 23. My beautiful day off dinner. I had decided what I wanted to eat a day before. So steak and shrimp were ready by evening. I love a day off on week day!

Shrimp Cocktail with Daikion Radish
Highwire Cabernet Sauvivnon 2011 - I liked it a lot. $15.99. Yes, this is just a reminder. lol

Steak with grilled Renkon and Pumpkin

Renkon Gohan

1. Rinse 2 cups(160cc x 2cups) of rice
2. Cut some water Lotus Root
3. Put #1 and #2 in the pot
4. Add Dashi powder, 50cc soy sauce and 350cc water
5. Make it boiled. Put the lid and cook for 12 mins in low heat. You do NOT open the lid.
6. Turn off the heat and wait for 10 mins. You do NOT open the lid yet.
7. Done

Daikon Sunomono (Daikon Mini Salad)


1. Cut Daiokon Radish into thin strips
2. Sprincle salt a bit and leave for 10 mins
3. As Daikon get soft and waterly, wring the water out of Daikon
4. Add Sesami seeds and Sushi vineger

Green Curry

Lunch at Angkor on May 23.
I was hungry for Thai food. Angkor is not my favorite restaurant, but it was a convinient location for my plan today. I don't have curry at Thai Restaurant much, but I had green curry today. It was good. And I always like lemon grass soup here.

Breakfast on May 23.
Yay, I was off today. I like a day off on week day. I spent all day for myself. I still had to do some household but I did just in minnimum. I took a walk with my dog, went to ridc a bike and gave me a treat, pedicure at salon. Anyway this is what I had for breakfast. It's very rare for me to make something in the morning. I am usually to lazy. See? How much I excited for a day off today!

Tori-Mizudaki Nabe

You gotta be kidding me! I heard it snowed north of Pittsburgh. It's middle of May, isn't it? But you know what? It's not that bad for me. I was hungry for Nabe (Japanese hot pot) and it was perfect to have it in such a cold day. I enjoyed the meal, but hopefully it is the last chance to have nabe in this season.

Mother's Day

I visited my mother-in-law on Mother's Day. Did I cook for her? No. She made seared scallop,  salad and dessert, Father-in-law grilled steak. I just ate and drank. Thank you for feeding us all the time even on Mother's Day!

Salt Chicken

Dinner on May 9.
I was hungry for deep fried food. I found potato croquette in the freezer. Just in case, I defrosted chicken too. I was right. The croquette tasted ok but it was mess. I pan-fried chicken. As the chicken was thigh part, it was juicy and flavorful.

Zucchini Salad - I didn't know that we can eat zucchini without cooking. It was good.

Rosemary Salmon

Dinner on May 7.
I feel tired all day. I didn't take time to cook, so I just cooked salmon and green beans. I added butter and garlic salt in the rice. The dinner plate looks good, but maybe a bit too small? Then I made salad too.
Salad : Just cut the romaine lettuce half, sprinkle crashed almonds on it.

Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken)

I got chicken thigh and made Karaage. Karaage is Japanese style fried chicken. It's marinated with ginger, garlic and soy sauce. My mom makes good Karaage. I have to ask her the recipe. Mine was just ok. Hmmmm, I am hungry for my mom's.

Teriyaki Hamburger Bento! I added brocolli stem and onion in the meat. Hamburger was pan-fried and when it's steamed, I cooked brocolli and carrot too. So I cooked everything in one pan at same time. Save some time and less dirty dishes.

Omu-Rice (Omulet Rice)

Dinner on May 3. I had tomato sauce and I wanted used it up. So I made Omu-Rice, which is rice in egg omlet. I was going to add ham in the rice and it's gone! It seemed to be threw it away by accident. So I added edamame. I poured tomato sauce on the omulet and sprinkled cheese.
