Lasagne

Dinner on October 26.
Lasagne. Again, half ground meat and half veggies. I totally forgot that I still had celery and bought another. What is a good meal to use lots of celeries? Day 1, lasagne. I always use tons of veggies for lasagne anyway. Today's veggies are celery, carrot and onion.

Tofu Hamburger

Dinner on October 24.
Tofu Hamburger,  half ground beef and half tofu hamburger. Hamburger is always good, but sometimes it's too much for me (oh, yeah. I am not young to eat greasy juicy beef burger). I like to add something in the beef pate. veggies or tofu like this meal. It tastes lighter but I like it.
I put ketchup and worcestershire sauce in the pan after making hamburger and made the sauce. Easy and tasty.

Ocean Perch

Dinner on October 22.
Ocean Perch was on sale at Wholey's. I had no idea what they were and was suggested to make fried fish. I googled it at home and found the Japanese name. In Japan, it seemed more popular to simmer than to deep fried. First of all, I don't do deep fry much at home, and so I brought the fish to simmer with soy sauce and broth. It was good. If I can get them that good price (it was about $1 for 1 piece of fillet), def. I'll buy them again.

Pork and Fried rice

Dinner on October 21.
I had no idea what I wanna make. I just wanted to finish rice in the fridge. I could have put it in the microwave and eat but I decided to make fried rice. Today's fried rice's ingredients are turkey bacon (who bought it? Forget about calorie if you are hungry for bacon!), carrot, green beans and onion. Also I cooked pork by pressure pot and had it on the side.

Tori Nabe

Dinner on October 20.
It has been chilly past few days. Nabe (Japanese hot pot) season has come! I bought a portable stove when I visited Japan this summer. I am so excited that finally I can use the stove.
I picked Tori Nabe (chicken pot) for the stove's debut. I put chicken thigh, nappa cabbage, tofu, moyashi sprout and enoki mushroom.

Ponzu for dipping sauce.

Sausalido

Dinner at Sausalido on October 19.
It was first time for me to go to Sausalido. It was before 6pm and already half tables were filled, and it seemed like rest of tables were reserved.
I ordered mussels which was my server's recommandation. It was really good. It was cooked with ham but the flavor didn't kill mussels. It made a good harmony. I brought red wine (yes, this restaurant is BYOB) and it went good with this meal. For entre, we got pork roast and crab cakes. The pork was juicy and the pear on the pork worked very well. Mashpotato was also good. Unfortunately crab cakes were mediocre. A bit salty. But resotto was cooked good as al dente.
Sausalido is becoming one of my favorite restaurants. Food is good and BYOB is big. The corkage fee is $2 per person. I am glad that I tried this restaurant.

Bar food at home

Dinner on October 16.
Bar food at home. I was going to make scalloped potatoes and chicken. But J said he was so hungry that he couldn't wait (Is he a baby??) and he grabbed onion rings from fridge. I needed to preheat oven, so it took about 20 minutes eventually. If he could wait for another 15 minutes, I would have time to make scalloped potatoes though. Anyway, I had onion rings, chicken with BBQ sauce (of course!) and veggie sticks, and drank beer. Easy pub dinner on weekday.

Chicken Breat and Bacon Pot-au-feu

Dinner on October 15.
I usually have dark meat for Pot-au-feu. Chicken drum sticks or thigh make good flavor. However I had only chicken breast. So I added peppery bacon. It was such a good idea! Chicken got very soft and tender and bacon worked very good. Now this menu is gonna be one of my regular menu.

Ankake Yakisoba

Lunch on October 13.
My mother-in-law brought me chow mein a few weeks ago. Since then, I had decided to make Ankake Yakisoba (stirfried veggies and chow mein with sauce). At last, I ate it. I ran out oyster sauce, so it tasted like missing something, but it was ok. I had cabbage, onion, carrot, green pepper, mushroom and shrimp.

Industry Public House

Dinner at Industry on October 12.
Eating out weekend, it's one of my favorite things. I went to Industry today. I have been there before, but it was just for drinks. I had fish and chips tonight. Look at the picture below! It was huge, and looks like fried chicken! lol.

Stuffed Cabbage

Dinner on October 11.
I saved juice of Beef Shank I made on the other day and used it to cook stuffed cabbage. It tasted good, but I think I should have used a pressure pan, and cabbage would be soft and good.

New Amsterdam

Dinner at New Amsterdam on October 8.
I don't eat out much during week day, but I was tired and decided to go out for quick dinner. New Amsterdam is a small pub and nice atmosphere. Food is nothing special, but I enjoyed my chicken wings. I watched the first period of Penguins game there and went back home for rest of the game. I must have been very tired. I fell asleep during the second period! We won anyway. I try to stay up for tomorrow Pirates game.

Vichyssoise at Tartine

Lunch at Tartine on October 8.
I was going to have subway sandwich for lunch, but I changed my mind and went to Tartine. I tried Vochyssoise. .... It was good, but it reminded me Pringles sour and cream flavor. I liked the sandwich too, but I just realized that I like La Gourmandi the best for baguette sandwiches.

I still have rice noodle. I like Pad-Thai, but I added to much sauce and it was salty this time. I squeezed lemon and it helped.

Coca Cafe

Brunch at Coca Cafe on October 5.
It is very rare for me to eat out for breakfast. I had friends coming over and we decided to go out for breakfast. We went to Coca Cafe. Saturday morning, it didn't suprise us that we had to wait for more than 30 mins. It became brunch rather than breakfast. We were starving, but it's worth to wait. I had onion soup and omlet. I loved it. Def, I wanna come back. Maybe next time, I would come back for early lunch. :)

I was hungry for Mapo Tofu. I had everything to make it but tofu which is the main ingredient. I had firm tofu, but I like silken tofu for Mapo-tofu. What should I do?
Eventually I made Mapo-tofu with firm tofu. hmmmm, it made me hungry for Mapo-tofu more!
